To ultra or not to ultra…

Colin and I are going to give this a try.  He got the idea while visiting family and his cousin (or second cousin or something twice removed) mentioned he ran ultra marathons every year, and he is 48 years old.

I said I would never run a marathon again after the NYC marathon.  I said that was the closest I’ve felt to death and the pain was unbearable and the training took away my life and my toenails are still purple today from where I bled during the race.  But when Colin said he wanted to do this I said, “ok.”  Actually it was more like “oooOOOOKKKkkkaaaaay”.

Everyone told me about catching the bug.  It took me three days to walk normally after the marathon.  I was grumpy and tired and didn’t believe them.  Well, I guess they were right because I just put together a training schedule for the JFK 50 miler in November, and training day starts on February 20th.
