“Lunch Scholars”, directed by Austin Oberbillig and filmed/edited by Evan Ricks, is an interview with high school students asking them basic historical facts. The students fail miserably.
But in their defense , I can say my experience with high school was rubbish. Today I am able to answer all of these simple questions without hesitation, but I’m not sure I could have at 15. What’s the difference? I have more freedom. In high school I had a strict schedule and was dependent on other people. I didn’t have the ability or the luxury to go out and explore things on my own, which in my opinion is the best way to learn. And today I can enjoy things that I’m interested in no matter if they are cool or not. I also live in a city where this kind of education is easy to access. Plus there’s this thing called the internet.
